This year’s NACADA conference had over 3,000 attendees from across the United States, Canada, China, Egypt, Japan, New Zealand, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom. Cranium Cafe’s CEO, Tracy Gorham, presented the Cafe software to a group of progressive academic advisors trying to find a better way to communicate one-on-one with students who live too far to make it to campus. The online advising presentation was an open forum where the audience participated in the conversation. Tracy demonstrated the use of the video meeting & collaboration software for student services departments with an integration into the Canvas learning management system.
After seeing the demonstration of the software, attendees quickly explored Cafe uses within their campus ecosystem. Expressing many needs where private communication amongst faculty and students can be challenging within blended and online courses. They also thought of new ways to use the Cafe for new enrollment and financial aid through the use of the Cafe’s embedded iframe.
